The main issue with Intersect by Lexus is that no one really (until you go there) understands what on earth it is. So allow us to clarify and remember why it is we love this place.
Intersect by Lexus is actually a warm, inviting dining space that car enthusiasts, foodies and general gents about town will love. No, don’t worry, it isn’t a complete in your face brand experience that will mean you leave with either a Lexus or a test drive. Aside from the statement car design that is often on the bottom floor as you arrive, the branding is subtle and cleverly executed. It is a perfect venue for date night with a relaxed, fun but intimate feel. The space is designed by Masamichi Katayama, the world-renowned interior designer and founder of the interior design firm Wonderwall.
As soon as you enter, you look up to see a roof design that embodies the concept, rolling sand hills of Dubai created using luxury Lexus materials, subtle branding but impressive design. Apart from the food, there is another reason Esquire loves Intersect by Lexus, the friendly family vibe that from first visit, you feel from the staff and the service.
But back to the food, Chef Thomas Reger is renowned for introducing the ‘Feel Good Food’ concept which in short, uses the deep connection that he has with his ingredients and flavors to curate beautiful dishes. Most ingredients are sourced from organic and sustainable companies that value fair-trade, and quality over all when possible.
Intersect by Lexus is good at performing across a range of dishes, this isn’t a one-trick-pony restaurant. Favorites include a beef bresaola starter that uses the sweetness of apples to bring out the flavor of the meat. While we are on the subject of starters… we would never normally recommend a soup, until now. Choose from a rich, sweet and thick soup or tasty scallop starter with accompanying Brussel sprouts for a festive touch, the pomegranate with the scallops make it feel like a healthier, lighter option. Everything on the plate has a purpose and provides an original flavor that is both healthy and delicious. The unconventional dishes include Beet and Barley risotto, Chilean seabass with yuzu glazed turnips or Slow cooked beef short ribs with celeriac puree.
While desert choice is limited, it is, like everything else, well executed. The refreshing fruit salad or classic cheese board always look appealing after the complexities of the main dishes. But the sweet toothed amongst us won’t be disappointed, try the Lichu Hazelnut Chocolate Cake with ganache, salted caramel and hazelnut flavours that combine into a rich, desert-lover’s dream.
The coffee is a work of art, a must-try. Partnering with RAW Coffee Company, the city’s organic fair trade boutique roaster, two exclusive coffees are available and are updated seasonally. Using the rare Ethiopian Harrar coffee, the first coffee bean ever traded dating back to the 15th century. A perfect end to a great night.
