The tagline was: Baywatch Nights. It’s colder at night. Fool-proof programming, surely? Apparently, only me and The Hoff thought so.
But let’s not throw the Baywatch out with the bathwater—the idea of turning the hottest thing going during daylight hours and stretching into the night is a good one in principle. You just need to pick and plan wisely. Located on the 22nd floor of the globally-famous Atlantis The Royal hotel, the stylish adult-only ‘skypool’ has managed to compile all the elements of what ‘the good life’ should look and feel like. The chic ambiance, a curated beach-chilled playlist, private cabanas with private plunge-pools, a lighter swimsuit-appropiate menu, and it even collaborated with Ounass earlier this year to ensure that all its towels and decor was exclusively supplied by Dolce & Gabbana.
Then, of course, there’s the view. Being 90m up, the elevated infinity pool has an uninterupted (and exclusive) view that overlooks the entirity of The Palm and the Dubai Marina skyline. Naturally, bookings are essentially, and hard to come by during the day time—which poses the big question: what happens at night?
With the impending summer heat rapidly approaching, unfortunately, pool and beach season is on its way out quicker than Mitch taking to water. Which is why Cloud 22 has introduced ‘Moonlight Sessions’. Every Thursday to Saturday night during the summer, the venue will focus on curating a more evening-appropriate vibe with entertainment, live music and the chance for an after-dark dip under the starlit sky at one of the world’s most iconic skypools. Fool-proof programming, surely.
