They sweep the floor, you sweep the leg

The power of nostalgia has never had more impact than it does today. Film remakes; throw-back fashion tends; Brexit — all by-products of generations of people fondly reminising over memories of days gone by. With that in mind, the newly opened The Karate Kid-themed restaurant/bar, Mr Miyagi’s, looks set to take full advantage.

Located at the 9th floor of the Media One Hotel in Dubai Media City, the kitchen will be serving up Asian street food, an extensive drinks menu and an interior that will likely turn you into an “Instagram husband” for at least a good 20mins.

Not only is the restaurant area named after the iconic martial arts sensei of the 1984 film, but the seperate bar area of the venue is (rather cleverly) called Cobra Kai, in a nod to those nostalgic film fans.

While not known for his skills in the kitchen (chopstiks aside), Mr Miyagi’s team of chefs serve a zingy menu of pho-nomenal Vietnamese soups, Japanese small plates and Chinese favourites. Cobra Kai will host a daily Happy Hour [4pm to 8pm] with drinks from AED 25.

Both Mr Miyagi’s and Cobra Kai are open daily between noon and 2am. For reservations call tel: 04 4207489
