Dubai‘s steak-eaters will no doubt be familiar with Argentinian steakhouse Gaucho. Set in Dubai’s busy Financial District, it has been providing it’s high-end diners with top-notch steaks ever since it opened in 2011.
It’s recently decided to dedicate Mondays to those who not only like steak but love it. So we sent our most carnivorous member of staff down to the DIFC eatery to try it out:
Gaucho is already an established brand. There are 15 restaurants operating throughout the UK, and many more around the world (while they might not be tied to the original Gaucho concept, the notion of an ‘Argentinian steakhouse’ is now familiar to most meat-eaters). As such the menu is somewhat typical; expect a variety of steaks from cows that grew up in Argentina, all cooked to perfection along with various sides.
Each Monday the restaurant now promotes a new evening called ‘Meat Me Mondays” which provides diners with a selection of Argentinian cuts of meat, paired with marinades that complement each.
Combinations include lomo steak served with fresh churrasco sauce, ancho basted in chimichurri sauce, along with home-made chorizo with a gremolata sauce. Expect sides such as traditional humita (a type of creamed corn served inside corn husks), alongside zesty salads.
Food is tasty and, because the chef does the choosing for you, allows meat-lovers to go beyond their comfort zones and try all new cuts and styles (while not straying too far from the norm).
There’s never a dull evening in DIFC; such is the number of business-types who end up travelling, staying and working in and around the area. So while the promotion takes place each Monday, there’s always a decent number of fellow diners to fill the room. The bar – which lies beyond the main dining room – also makes for an excellent place for a pre-meal drink.
Service is excellent, and the staff are well versed in the types of meat they serve, alongside the heritage of some of the more classic dishes.
Meat Me Monday is available – you guessed it – each Monday from 5 pm onwards. Packages include AED455 per person with a drinks selection or AED285 minus the beverages.
