If a way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, then a deep infatuation must be felt when exploring City Walk in Jumeirah. The range of places to eat is phenomenal, with restaurants and cafes at every turn, offering a range of cuisine.
For a hearty meal, Butcha (pictured below) is a good place to start. A steakhouse and butcher shop for meat connoisseurs, it actually dry ages its beef onsite to give an intense natural flavour and tenderness. Diners can select from a range of cuts, then decide how they would like it prepared, with wood fire and chargrill among the options. At the in-house butcher shop, you can also select meat to take home.
Aubaine (below) is worth a visit too. It has a casual shabby-chic setting, taking its cues from a laid-back Parisian salon or bistro. The food inside has been influenced by the city and its surrounds, with authentic French dishes, artisan bread and a patisserie among the offerings.
You can also find a taste of New York here, courtesy of Serendipity3 (below), one of the Big Apple’s most famous restaurants, originally opening a branch in 1954 in a Manhattan townhouse on the Upper East Side. Now it has come to Dubai, serving big portions of typical American fare – burgers, hot dogs and nachos among the various choices. The signature Frrrozen Hot Chocolate is also here, which walks a thin line between drink and dessert, and is sublime.
Other foodie options at City Walk include the chance to build your own pizza at Project Pie, choosing from unlimited toppings, with Italian, Japanese and Middle Eastern also present.
