Why is it such a hassle to bring a dog on a flight? Surely, we’ve all been seated next to someone far more unsanitary than a dog, and yet, air travel with your furry friend appears to be an act of near impossibility. Well, for around AED33,000, K9 JETS will solve that problem. Departing on September 26 from Dubai to the UK, the private jet flight includes a seat for you and your canine companion, and will begin its intermittent schedule from late 2023 until September 2024, with additional flights being announced.

Speaking from personal experience, the process of taking Miko (my 16 year old Shiba Inu) on a flight from Los Angeles to London was more complicated than the DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles a.k.a. purgatory) on a Monday morning. According to the International Pet and Transport association, over 4 million pets and live animals are transported by air every year, so it was about time somebody made this as stress free as possible.

According to pilot and co-founder of K9 JETS, Adam Golder: “We’re thrilled to be launching the inaugural Dubai to London K9 JETS flight this month. To date, we have flown over 220 happy jet-setting pets and their owners on international flights from destinations including Paris, London, New Jersey, Los Angeles, and Lisbon. Our newly introduced Dubai route is our maiden flight in the Middle East and we’re looking forward to expanding our network to include routes farther East to Asia, Australia and beyond in 2024.

Husband and wife, Adam and Kristy Golder, founded K9 JETS in 2022 after their other company, G6 Aviation, received an unusual request to book 10 passengers with 10 dogs on a flight from London to New Jersey. Talk about capitalising on a gap in the market.

I imagine a dog experiences a plane ride like riding in an elevator on steroids, so if you somehow manage to debrief them on the adventure that lies ahead, you can get your tickets here.
