The island of Ibiza is many things to many people: hedonistic clubbing paradise; picturesque regenerative getaway spot; gastronomic-inspired slice of the good life. OKU is a place that tries to be all of those things.
Hip, bustling and populated almost exclusively by attractive people, it has quickly established itself as an upmarket bolt hole in San Antonio—a town that is more renowned for its Strip, and its sleep-all-day-party-all-night reputation.

Very-much a design-led hotel, this place gives off beach club vibes, without actually being on a beach. Urban, upcycled luxury is the theme of things. Think thatched pool-side umbrellas, polished concrete and a mix of golden wooden slabs and stone interiors. On the outside, wooden shutters slotting seamlessly into the sleek stone block exterior, give it an almost transformative impression throughout the day.

The hotel is separated into two blocks, each with its own swimming pool—an Olympic-sized one (with a stage at one end playing throughout the day) and a quieter adult-only one. With regards to the rooms, there is no discernable difference between the blocks except that one houses the more casual-dining restaurant, Kima; the other has The OKU Restaurant—an increasingly popular Nikkei restaurant from ex-SushiSamba chef
Mark Vaessen.
There’s also a compact but very Zen spa offering treatments including an OKU signature massage, and the gym has stylish retro-looking equipment, personal trainers for fitness classes and yoga in the mornings. OKU is a new kind of five-star for Ibiza.
