As any motorsport enthusiast will know, Abu Dhabi’s formula one track snakes around the Yas Hotel, one of Abu Dhabi’s most iconic hotels. And ahead of the formula one this weekend, we’ve decided to come down and check out this amazing property.
The Yas Hotel is a destination hotel, through and through. And if you’re lucky enough to check in to the fridge-white art gallery of a lobby during Formula One race day – or during Yas Island’s one of many concerts – you will find it jam-packed with some of the more famous on the world’s social scene. But that’s not to say this isn’t a fantastic hotel when the cars stop

While there may be no Lewis Hamilton or Fernando Alonso screaming underneath the grid-like façade, the Yas Hotel remains a seriously beautiful hotel. And as the dusk fades in to night, you’ll find the LED’s swirl and sparkle just the same. The interior remains typically modern, and even the most basic rooms provide adequate enough space to swing the proverbial cat.

There are two pools – family and adults-only – both with sunset views; a fitness centre as well as a luxury spa, which has nine treatment rooms and separate male and female steam rooms. Elsewhere, the hotel boasts a number of food and beverage locations, all of which are very much up to international standards. However, it’s the skylight bar – complete with views over the Formula One track – that will most attract those looking for that all-important Instagram selfie.

The world’s spotlight is obviously on the hotel during Formula One, but we’d say that the hotel’s best qualities are only improved when not overly busy. Recently, the area around the hotel has also started to come alive. A quick jaunt out to the marina (5-minutes walk away from the hotel) and there exist several new bars and restaurants which, while a tad quiet, will draw some life back on to the island.

It should be said then, that while the Yas Hotel is indisputably the best place to be during the Formula One, it’s still a rather pleasant place to stay when it’s not the formula one, as well.
