This time they’ve arrived in Barcelona, with the launch of their 100-room hotel in the Ciutat Vella district, close to the Santa Catalina market and within stumbling distance of the city’s top must-sees. The distinctive brand, which blends Schrager’s penchant for the hip with Marriott’s broad reach, is on something of a roll with a recent Sanya opening set to be followed this year by outposts in Bangkok, Abu Dhabi and Shanghai. This Spanish branch will transform a former office building to fit Schrager’s signature style, while a rooftop bar promises tantalising views of the city. editionhotels.com
