Ibiza is all about ME

While we are quite happy to ignore those click-bait “Things you have to do before you’re 40” lists, we are actually in agreement that spending a week partying in Ibiza is something that you ought to give some serious consideration.

Now, before you turn your nose up at us and declare that you’re “not into that kind of thing”, we will counter your argument with Exhibit A: the ME Ibiza.

Located in the stunning Santa Eulalia bay on the east coast of the island — and away from the notorious mega clubs — arriving at the luxury property is like walking into a VIP beach-club where they only let in a carefree and upmarket crowd.

The hotel itself is open plan with whitewashed walls, vast open windows and billowing white curtains giving it a laid-back and sophisticated vibe — a far cry from the student-friendly mass accommodation the other side of
the island.

Most of the 205 spacious rooms (including 29 swish ME+ suites) surround the centrepiece pool, where guests spend most of the day topping up their tans from the daybeds, or on the rooftop (ME by Melia hotels are known for their rooftop spaces) where it has a Skin Inc Spa, an open-air Mediterranean restaurant and cocktail bar and an infinity pool. It’s no surprise that merely a month after it opened in 2014, it was invited to join the Leading Hotels of the World consortium.

Only open during the summer, ME Ibiza does not turn its back on the island’s famous party scene — its concierge service is well connected and able to get you VIP entrance into most parties on the island — but it is certainly a way of experiencing the party in a classier way.

ME Ibiza, Open until October 31. Rates start from Dhs1,305 per room. mebymelia.com
