Why the Exhibitionist Hotel stands out from the crowd

The Exhibitionist Hotel is a beautifully restored 18th century town house on Queensberry Place in Knightsbridge. For Middle Eastern travellers the location is perfect, as it’s close to Harrods and the usual stomping grounds of visitors from this region — plus it serves a halal menu and can organise personal shoppers. But it’s also a lot less uptight than many of the usual west London hotels, and quirkiness is at the heart of its concept.

This is immediately apparent with the art installations in the lobby [see above], and that’s just for starters. There are eight dedicated gallery spaces in the hotel, offering a blank canvas for artists to exhibit their work. The room concepts are eclectic, featuring bespoke furniture and fittings and a personalised scent for each room, while the Splash suites accommodate eight guests, which is enough to make a decent party. The two penthouse suites — The Squint Suite and Jimmie Martin Suite — have roomy terraces with impressive London views, accommodating up to 25 guests for private events.

And there are three eccentrically styled eateries and bars: the Abstract Bar, Garden Room and The Lounge Bar. All told, it’s a fun yet classy way to spend a few days in town. Check it out for a genuinely different offering.
