Even a rudimentary home chef knows that timing is key in cooking, be it boiling eggs, baking cakes, or cooking pasta. Well, let’s just say that any troubles associated with that last one should now be eradicated thanks to the rather brilliant idea from Italian pasta maker, Barilla, who has created a series of Spotify playlists specifically timed to the length it takes to cook pasta properly.
Frankly, this is a marvellous idea. With playlists entitled ‘Mixtape Spaghetti’ (9mins long, to suit its best-selling Spaghetti N.5), Moody Day Linguine (10mins long – Linguine N.13) and Pleasantly Melancholy Penne (11min long – Penne Rigate N.73), it allows you to put the pasta in boiling water (always salted), and start the playlist, and then when the music ends, the pasta should be ready.
Dubbed the ‘playlist timer’, the campaign was created by the Advertising firm publicis back in 2021, and now has nearly 400,000 followers. The playlist options include different genres of music like pop, hip-hop, and indie all covered by Italian artists.
Once you pick up your pasta at the store you can find the matching playlist on Barilla Italia’s Spotify profile.
