Back in the 1990s, George Clooney and Quentin Tarantino starred alongside each other in the cult vampire classic From Dusk Till Dawn (1996). Since then, however, Tarantino has gone on to work with Clooney’s BFF, Brad Pitt, on two separate occasions, Inglorious Basterds (2009) and Once Upon a Time…In Hollywood (2019), the latter of which won Pitt his first ever Oscar, playing the role of fictional stuntman, Cliff Booth.
But in a recent interview, Clooney expressed some disdain toward the famous auteur. “Quentin said some sh** about me recently, so I’m a little irritated by him. He did some interview where he was naming movie stars and then this guy goes, ‘Well, what about George?’ and he goes, ‘He’s not a movie star.’ And then he literally said something like, ‘name me a movie since the millennium.'” Clooney, noticeably pissed, added, “‘Since the millennium?’ That’s kind of my whole f***ing career.”
Clooney concluded, “So now I’m like, alright, dude, f*** off. I don’t mind giving him s***. He gave me s***.” I would have to vehemently disagree with Quentin on this one, and if you need some convincing, look no further than 2009’s Up in the Air, which, in my opinion, is one of the best movies of the 21st century. This movie was also eerily prophetic about the perilous results of WFH (working from home), and the dehumanising aspects of isolated work culture.
George Clooney is teaming up with his former Ocean’s side kick Brad Pitt in their upcoming film Wolfs, scheduled for release next month, September 20, 2024. The description for Wolfs reads: Hired to cover up a high-profile crime, a fixer soon finds his night spiraling out of control when he’s forced to work with an unexpected counterpart.
And as for Tarantino, there was a lot of hype surrounding his upcoming project The Movie Critique, which ostensibly had Tom Cruise attached, one of the few movie stars yet to work with the emphatic director, but apparently that project has now been scrapped. Still, this isn’t the first time Tarantino has “scrapped” a project, only to resurrect it some time later, as was the case with The Hateful Eight (2015) and even Inglorious Basterds.
Brad Pitt was also briefly linked to The Movie Critique, so despite the bad blood between Tarantino and Clooney, Pitt and QT seem to be doing just fine. Let’s just hope Pitt isn’t forced to pick sides.
