It appears that the Fist of Khonshu, Moon Knight just punched his ticket for season 2 as producer Mohamed Diab just tweeted out a TikTok of him and the hero himself, Oscar Isaac in Cairo.

For those who don’t believe something’s official unless it’s actually declared official then Oscar Isaac has a question for you:

“Why else would we be in Cairo?”

Fans responded to Mohamed Diab’s post on Twitter by saying:

“Omg. Please.”

“IM ABOUT TO DO SOMETHING THAT’S GOING TO GET ME ON NATIONAL NEWS”

Other fans demanded that the Moon Knight executive producer explain what the post means immediately and to give them what they want.

Three heads are better than one

Understandably, fans need to know how Moon Knight’s story continues with the addition of the third personality, Jake Lockley who was revealed in the post-credits scene of the season finale to also be inhabiting Marc Spector’s mind and body alongside Steven Grant. Jake then killed Arthur Harrow and drove off into the distance with Khonshu in the backseat.

The Egyptian deity had finally released Marc and Steven from his service but perhaps that was because he knew he could still pull the strings of Marc’s third personality. If and most likely when season 2 comes out, we’ll probably see Marc and Steven begrudgingly biting the bullet and becoming Moon Knight again to possibly wrestle control away from the violent Jake Lockley.

Speaking to io9, Diab had stated that there was definitely a story to tell about how Jake Lockley became who he is.

“I want to tell you that Jake scares the hell out of me.”

“I hate him. But I’m sure one day if we expanded him, hopefully, if I’m part of that, I’m sure I’m going to sympathize with him because definitely there is a story behind why we became who he is.”

Possible MCU team-ups for Moon Knight

Marvel has announced that one of its upcoming Disney+ series is Daredevil: Born Again which sees Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio reprising their roles as Daredevil and Kingpin from the Netflix Daredevil show. The latter had already returned as the Kingpin in the Hawkeye series and now fans are waiting to see him in come face to face with the Man without Fear once again when Daredevil: Born Again begins streaming in Spring 2024.

People who watched any of the Marvel Netflix shows such as Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist will remember that the Daredevil brought them all together to form the super group The Defenders which had their own miniseries.

It was announced at San Diego Comic Con 2022 that Marvel Studios are going to release a Blade series which means that all the members of the superhero team Marvel Knights will be a part of the MCU. The team was  formed by Daredevil who recruits Moon Knight, Black Widow, Shang-Chi, Luke Cage and Dagger to capture the Punisher who’s series is also now on Disney+.

Although Black Widows sacrificed herself in Avengers: Endgame, the remaining members of the Marvel Knights could still interact in some way or another. That, or Doctor Strange could just reincarnate her without possessing her like he did with the other Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. In superhero films, anything is possible.

While Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger series is not on Disney+, the show was set within the MCU which means the character could appear in Moon Knight or any of the other Disney+ series to be part of the Marvel Knights team.

There’s also the possibility of Moon Knight forming the Midnight Suns alongside the earlier mentioned characters as well as Ghost Rider who was last played by Gabriel Luna in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D series which was also set in the MCU.

Oscar Isaac is aware of the potential team ups for Moon Knight and has spoken about them in an interview with ET Canada. The star emphasises that it would happen if it felt necessary for the story.

“Obviously I get asked like, how could I see him in the future and Midnight Sons is definitely a place, Marvel Knights is definitely a place,”

“But, it would really be about if the story felt necessary, you know?”

While the MCU’s Moon Knight won’t be joining any superhero teams anytime soon, there is a new Marvel video game starring the Midnight Suns coming out later this year in October. While Moon Knight is not a part of the roster, fans will be able to play as a wide selection of other Marvel characters such as Iron Man, Captain America Blade, Wolverine, Spider-Man, Scarlet Witch, Doctor Strange and more.

Middle Eastern and Muslim representation

The year 2022 may be the rise of Middle Eastern and Muslim representation as Moon Knight featured an Egyptian cast, produced by Mohamed Diab, Ahmez Hafez served as one of the series’ editors and the score was written by the award-winning Egyptian composer Hesham Nazih. The show received worldwide praise for its unique perspective and authentic representation of Egypt and Egyptian people.

Speaking to William Mullally of Esquire Middle East, Diab said:

“I love Egypt, and I think representation is about people and is about places. There are Egyptian characters in the show, all played by Egyptians, and it was very important for that to be overseen by an Egyptian director. But beyond that, we also portray modern Egypt just as we do old Egypt, avoiding showing them in any way that makes it seem ‘exotic’. Egypt itself needs proper representation. You’ve never seen Egypt as authentically depicted in Hollywood as it is here, in the past or present.”

“To me, this had to be a success story, because that’s what would inspire Hollywood to bring in more from Egypt and the Arab world. And it’s working so far — Marvel loved Hesham and Ahmed, for example, and I’m sure they’re going to work with them both again,”

DC’s Black Adam which is set to release on October 20 in the UAE and the hero receives his power from Egyptian gods while the set in the fictional city of Kahndaq which is depicted as being located between Egypt and Jordan.

The character is being hyped as the one who’s going to change the hierarchy of power in the DC universe. Rumoured have spread that Henry Cavill’s Superman is expected to make a cameo in the film and it would be pretty cool to see a mighty Middle Eastern hero going toe-to-toe with powerful heroes such as the Man of Steel.

Being that Black Adam is typically depicted as the archenemy of Shazam, perhaps he’ll make an appearance in Shazam: Fury of the Gods when the film releases on December 21.

Ms. Marvel, who was the first Muslim superhero in the MCU focused on a young Muslim teenager who deals with relatable family and cultural issues while being a superhero. Actress Iman Vellani stated that the show has strengthened her connection to her Muslim heritage.
