After giving Esquire Middle East the full behind the scenes story on his first scripted series hitting Netflix later this month, Mo Amer has dropped the trailer for ‘Mo’, and it’s everything he promised it would be and more.

The show stars tenured Palestinian comedian Mo Amer and Farah Bseiso in what’s being billed as a ‘gritty new dramedy’, which “showcases the absurdity of the immigration process through moments that range from heartbreaking to hilarious,” according to Netflix.

Amer joined forces with his long-time collaborator Ramy Youssef, created of ‘Ramy’ for the show, which is based on Amer’s experiences as a Palestinian growing up in Houston, Texas. The show is Amer’s latest collaboration with Netflix, with which he’s released two stand-up comedy specials, ‘Mo Amer: Vagabond’ and ‘Mohammed in Texas’, which was released towards the end of 2021.

“The show portrays the universal experience of feeling like your life is in limbo and deals with situations unique to many immigrants. Set in Texas, Mo straddles the line between two cultures, three languages and a pending asylum request while hustling to support his Palestinian family,” reads the show’s official description.

An A24 production, 8-episode first season with episodes running 30 minutes each launches on Netflix on August 24, 2022.
