Adonis Creed is about to get even more Naruto-influenced than you can possibly imagine, and that’s exciting news for anime fans and Michael B. Jordan fans alike. The star and filmmaker behind the Creed franchise is reportedly working on a new anime series connected to the Rocky spinoff IP. According to sources close to Deadline, the plans for the Creed universe have gotten even bolder following the success of Creed III, which raked in over $100 million globally and set a box office record for Amazon.
Details about the project are still in exploratory stages, but Deadline reports that the anime series is in the works and there are also ideas for a companion live-action TV series. Additionally, there is a potential project in the works centering on Adonis Creed’s daughter Amara, played by deaf actress Mila Davis-Kent in Creed III.
What’s even more exciting is that Michael B. Jordan is a known anime fanatic, and his love for the genre influenced the new film. In a recent interview, Jordan revealed that the Naruto anime played a big role in shaping the way he shot the latest adventures of Adonis in part III, taking inspiration from key anime fights to influence the way he shot the fight scenes between Adonis and Dame.

Building a universe could be a major test case for Amazon’s ambitions for MGM, which it acquired for $8.5 billion last year. The studio has been discussing mining the MGM library of intellectual property, starting with a competition reality series based on the iconic spy 007, which was greenlighted immediately after the acquisition was completed.

While there are no concrete plans yet for a Rocky spinoff, talks about exploring the iconic boxer’s story have been on-and-off for years. If and when something comes together, Sylvester Stallone, the franchise’s creator and star, is expected to be involved.
In the meantime, fans of the Creed franchise can look forward to the upcoming anime series and potential live-action TV series. With Michael B. Jordan’s passion for anime and the success of the franchise so far, it’s sure to be an exciting new addition to the universe.
