In recent memory, Deadpool & Wolverine is perhaps the only Marvel film to gain this much hype since the latest Spider-Man installment, if not the final Avengers film. After what had been promised as his final film as Wolverine in 2017’s masterpiece, Logan, Hugh Jackman just simply couldn’t abandon his six adamantium steak knives, and has now returned in what is slated to be this year’s Barbenheimer, at least in in terms of anticipation.

Watch the recently released clip below that reveals the return of a fan favourite…

That’s right. Wolverine’s arch nemesis – Sabretooth! And, by the looks of it, it’s the same actor who played him in the first ever X-Men movie from the year 2000 (it is the same actor, Tyler Mane, a very fitting name for a guy playing a giant cat-man with a wildly voluminous head of hair).

So, will Taylor Swift be in the film?

Dating back nearly a decade ago, it was rumoured that Taylor Swift was going to play a role in X-Men: Apocalypse, but alas, that never happened. In a recent interview with Vancouver Sun, Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool himself) finally broke his silence on whether or not Swift has a role in the upcoming film.

“Every single one of these secrets and spoilers will be revealed on July 26,” he said.

Well, we only have a few more weeks left to wait.

Deadpool 1 and 2 were both massive successes at the box office, and although this latest film has the potential to eclipse both predecessors in terms of gross and critical acclaim, it will be interesting to see where this leaves Hugh Jackman in terms of his days as Wolverine. According to comic book lore, Wolverine, aka Logan, is well over 200 years old, but Hugh can’t play him forever, especially not with the stunts this guy does. There were rumours some time ago that Tom Hardy would take over from Jackman, but as he’s now webbed up playing Venom for the umpteenth time, one can only assume that ship has sailed.

Oh, well. I guess we’ll wait and see.

In other Arab news, Ryan Reynolds has also been named as chief island officer of Yas Island, so we imagine we’ll see a lot of him this side of the planet come August.

Deadpool & Wolverine releases worldwide in theatres on July 26, 2024.
