Amazon’s irreverent superhero series ‘The Boys’ has a fresh trailer, ahead of its July 26 premiere date.
The series sees a group of humans with no superpowers attempt to expose the truth about superhero team The Seven (basically, The Avengers). The crew, lead by Karl Urban (Star Trek) aims to take down the power-bloated heroes, who regularly abuse their powers on a regular basis.
The eigh-episode series is based on the comic book series of the same name, which was written by Garth Ennis – he who previously penned Preacher comics. Fortunately, Amazon has cast the same team behind Preacher’s successful jump to television for The Boys, including Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. The pair worked with Eric Kripke (Supernatural) to hep write and produce the series.
Unlike the noble heroes we’re used to, such as Superman, Batman and Iron Man, The Seven are a group of superheroes who regularly push the limits of their power and disregard human life. The not-so-super Super Heroes include: Homelander (Antony Starr), Starlight (Erin Moriarty), Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott), A-Train(Jessie T. Usher), The Deep (Chace Crawford) and Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell).
The team tasked with taking down the heroes using conventional means, include Billy Butcher (Karl Urban), Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Capon) and Female (Karen Fukuhara) as the five vigilante heroes known as “The Boys.”
The series will begin streaming on July 26.
