Just over a week after its release, AKA has taken the top spot on the Top 10 Non-English films globally on Netflix, the world’s biggest streaming platform, and is garnering a hugely positive response from action blockbuster fans from across the world.

But will it get a sequel? That is the question of the hour. But let’s give you a lowdown on the what is perhaps the best action movie of the year.

Netflix’s AKA: All you need to know

This is the second time Writer/Director Morgan S. Dalibert, (known for his directorial work on the highly acclaimed television series Les Emmerdeurs) has teamed up with the star of the film, former stunt-man Alban Lenoir.

And for good reason.

AKA is currently in Netflix’s Top 10 best performing films list in 93 different countries, garnering 38 million more hours watched than the second-place foreign spot, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar (a Bollywood film no less).

With Lenoir already being dubbed the ”Tom Cruise of France”, this new offering from the mind of Dalibert may have introduced the world to a brand-new leading man.

More importantly, the film’s success cements France’s place in the international blockbuster scene.

With fans already asking for more of the action-packed punchy protagonist Adam Franco played by Lenoir, the proof is simply in the pastry (or whatever French people say).

So Will There Be a AKA Part Deux?

As of now, there’s been no official word from the ta-dum-er or the filmmakers regarding a follow-up to AKA. However, there are several reasons to believe that a sequel could be in the works.

For the obvious, AKA was a massive success for the streamer in sheer eyeballs-on-screens numbers alone.

The film quickly became one of the streaming giant’s most-watched original movies, and it received widespread acclaim for its fast-paced action and moving storyline.

Any action film can have explosions, gunfights, and car chases. But with Lenoir’s character’s relentless obsession with what is right, and the immense chemistry between Lenoir and ten-year-old actor Noé Chabbat, this flick is unique in that it really has heart.

AKA Ending Explained

Also, Spoiler Alert, but Adam Franco doesn’t die in the end.

With the fate of the character’s future uncertain by the movie’s conclusion, the streaming giant and Dalibert can really do anything they want with the future of this possible franchise.

Unless the creator does not wish to continue, or Lenoir is unable to return, there is no reason for them not to greenlight another surefire hit.

To leave it where it is would be, how you say… ta-dumb for the streamer.
