You can now access China’s biggest streaming platform from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt.
iQiyi, often called the Netflix of China, has more than 100 million active paying subscribers and 500 million active users in China and across the world, serving up Pan-Asian content from China, Korea, and other Asian countries.
The platform, which began in China in 2010, features a mix of drama series, movies, variety shows and anime, all of which has been subtitled in Arabic and English in the Middle East, under the banner of iQiyi international.
At launch, are currently 3,000 titles available in the Middle East launch, including You With You 3, The Story of Yanxi Palace, Backstreet Rookie, My Unicorn Girl, Make My Heart Smile, Poisoned Love, Love is Sweet.
You with You3, a popular talent show, is built around finding the next C-Pop sensation, in the style of the K-Pop tradition of acts such as the globally popular BTS, with the third season on the platform following 119 men in China through competitions, mentorship and training to become members of a new pop group.
In order to engage the global users of the IQiyi platform, they will be opening up the ability to ‘cast support’ for contestants on the show, though it’s unclear what bearing that will have on the show itself. Major K-pop stars are involved in the show, including a member of the group BLACKPINK, Lisa, who is a dance mentor on the show.
Subscriptions cost AED 17.99, SAR 17.99 and EGP 64.99 with a one-month free trial either through their website or the international app.
