The first images of the iconic book character Dr. Refaat Ismail have been released as anticipation for the release of the upcoming TV show Paranormal starts to crank up.
The much-loved series of novels by the late Ahmed Khalid Tawfik are finally finding their way to the screen thanks to Netflix and showrunner Amr Salama. And by the looks of the first batch of images released, it is going to be huge.
Based on the best-selling, Arabic-launguage thriller series Paranormal, the six-part show will premier on Netflix in November 2020, with acclaimed actor Ahmed Amin playing the iconic protagonist Dr. Refaat Ismail.
The show will follow Dr Refaat Ismail, a cynical Hematologist with a dark sense of humour, on a “journey of doubt” as his world is turned upside down after his lifelong scientific convictions are questioned.
The plot starts in 1969, when Dr Ismail begins to experience paranormal activities, before he is joined by a university colleague, Maggie (played by Razane Jammal) as they enter the paranormal world and try to save their loved ones from the danger that surrounds them.
Paranormal will be the first Egyptian Netflix Original show to be produced, featuring a cast and crew who are predominantly Egyptian. The Arab-language show will be released in 190 countries.
