The next film set? The Final Frontier

Tom Cruise has done every stunt imaginable in his movies. He has leapt from rooftops, scaled the Burj Khalifa and hung from plane wings. Now, he wants to go to space.

According to Deadline, Tom Cruise and Elon Musk are in conversations with NASA about putting together the first narrative feature film that would be partially be filmed in space.

Cruise, who is going to be seen next in the Top Gun sequel, is working with Musk’s Space X to develop the action film, which is said to be in its earliest stages.

According to the initial reports and a Tweet from NASA, no studio is attached to the project and it is not the next installment in the Mission Impossible saga. He’s been through hell in these movies — and even broke his leg in the latest film. So space seems like the next big step for the Hollywood action star.

The actor also has a 2021 Mission Impossible 7 scheduled, headlined one of 2018’s biggest box office successes with Mission Impossible: Fallout. Top Gun: Maverick was supposed to be released this June but has been push back to December because of the Coronavirus pandemic.
