Production on Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible 7 has been halted in Venice, after concerns over the coronavirus outbreak.
All of the cast and crew have been reported okay, with many not having landed in the country (which recently saw its first outbreak cases just this week).
Paramount Pictures said that Venice was going to be the first production in the new Mission Impossible film.
“Out of an abundance of caution for the safety and well-being of our cast and crew, and efforts of the local Venetian government to halt public gatherings in response to the threat of coronavirus, we are altering the production plan for our three-week shoot in Venice,” a Paramount spokesperson said.
Paramount said that all crew members were being sent home until production has resumed.
The number of Coronavirus victims in Italy now stands at 229, the highest in Europe.
Apart from the new Mission Impossible film, the outbreak has also affected events such as Milan Fashion Week and the Venice Carnival. On Monday, six Serie A football matches were said to be played without spectators.
