It’s all about her voice

Over this weekend, Billie Eilish became the youngest ever artist to sing a James Bond theme song. The hottest young artist on the music scene right now, Eilish has been the toast of town for the last year.

Following in the footstep of Adele and Paul McCartney, the Grammy award winning artist’s new James Bond theme song is as Esquire UK put it, “the sort of thing you can imagine playing in the scenes we’ve seen of Bond floating underwater”.

She recently swept the Grammy awards winning all four major categories at the ceremony and said this on being picked to sing the new James Bond song:

“It feels crazy to be a part of this in every way. To be able to score the theme song to a film that is part of such a legendary series is a huge honor,” Eilish said in a statement. “James Bond is the coolest film franchise ever to exist. I’m still in shock.”

The slow tune is haunting and begins with just Eilish and her accompanying piano. The lyrics, however, give more of a hint to the 007 agent’s journey in the movie. Eilish sings of him “falling for a lie” and a possible romantic betrayal that’s been teased in many a tralier for the new film.

The song was written by Eilish’s brother Finneas and features orchestral arrangements by famed German film composer Hans Zimmer and Matt Dunkley.
