El Camino, the sequel to hit show Breaking Bad, is indeed doing well, but there’s a surprising film out there doing even better.
On October 11, six years since the premiere of the Breaking Bad show, the movie came to Netflix and provided a neat little bow on Jesse Pinkman’s story. Considering Breaking Bad is one of the most celebrated shows of all time, the sequel was bound to do well. However according to stats released by Netflix, El Camino is still lagging behind in viewers compared to Adam Sandler’s recent Netflix film.
El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie as it is officially called, follows the journey of Pinkman (played by Aaron Paul) moments after the final scene of the TV show. It shows the former drug dealer evading capture and desperately trying to escape his past and form a new life with a clear conscience.

In a recent tweet from Netflix US, the film has been watched by 25,734,392 households in its first seven days (October 18). Of course, that’s a very impressive statistic, in fact it’s more than the entire population of Shanghai according to World Atlas. However there’s another Netflix film this year that beats it by a fair margin, and it’s an Adam Sandler film.

At the time of writing, Sandler’s film has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 45% and a Metacritic score of 38%. This is far lower than El Camino’s 93% and 72% respectively. Murder Mystery is also the second most viewed Netflix film of all time at 73 million. That’s with four months to play with though, El Camino could still continue to rake in some impressive numbers as it ages.
