The final and most comprehensive Star Wars trailer is finally with us, after the mere one-second teaser shown to us previously. Over two-minutes long, the trailer gives viewers an idea what to expect in the conclusive instalment of the Skywalker trilogy.
The Skywalker trilogy, taking place several decades after the original trilogy, follows the long conflict between the Resistance, a paramilitary force led by General Leia, and the First Order, the spiritual success to the Empire’s dictatorship.
The trilogy follows the galaxy as it has lost faith in the way of the Jedi Order, with Jedis and the Force falling into legend with the disappearance of Luke Skywalker. The films follow the journey of Rey attempting to find the Force, and Kylo Ren attempting to find ‘himself’ as he teetering between good and evil.

The plot for the final instalment is secretive, explaining only that: “The surviving Resistance faces the First Order once more as Rey, Finn and Poe Dameron’s journey continues. With the power and knowledge of generations behind them, the final battle commences.”
Like Kylo Ren is shown to struggle with his alignment in the films, as does Rey. It is expected the film will conclude which directions the character take. Interestingly the previous two trilogies also concluded with pivotal characters finally revealing their moral alignment. Darth Vader became a goodie (spoiler) and Anakin Skywalker became a baddie (spoiler).
During the D23 panel, Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey, spoke about what it’s like touching both sides of the Force in her third Star Wars film:
“It’s been great, “I also think, weirdly, it’s been the most human thing because everybody struggles. Everybody has their things in life where one thing’s pulling me this way, one thing’s pulling me this way. What’s this journey going to be and where am I going to end up? So it’s been fun to play that.”
The Rise of Skywalker is slated for a December 20 release, check out the final trailer below:
