Zoe Kravitz has been signed to play Catwoman, the anti-heroine and love interest of Batman.
She will star alongside Robert Pattinson’s version of Gotham’s Dark Knight in Matt Reeves’ The Batman reboot.
Pre-production on the film is expected to begin this summer. No official start date has been set, although insiders have said that filming will either begin late this year or early next.
Reeves is better known for making the last two Planet of the Apes films and took over Batman director duties from Ben Affleck in January 2017. Affleck dropped the role following Justice League, which let Reeves pick his own Bruce Wayne.
According to reports, Kravitz beat out Baby Driver’s Eiza Gonzalez and Oscar winner Alicia Vikander for the role.
Most recently, Anne Hathaway played the cat-like thief in 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises. Michelle Pfeiffer also portrayed Catwoman in 1992’s Batman Returns.
Catwoman was also played by Halle Berry, in her own feature film. But most of the world will be happy to forget that.
