‘Avengers: Endgame’ directors are pulling no punches with Sony

The Russo Brothers have finally broken silence on their views of the recent Disney vs Sony spat, that saw Spider-Man leave the Marvel Cinematic Universe forever.

In a recent interview, the directors called Sony’s decision to stop working with Disney a “tragic mistake”.

According to the Russos, the relationship between Disney and Sony was always rather tense. ”We had a wonderful experience with that, and I think audiences really appreciated that marriage.” Said Anthony Russo.

“But we know how hard that marriage was to make in the first place, so the fact that the marriage fell apart isn’t really that surprising to me and Joe.”

Joe Russo described the deal as a “tenuous, fraught union throughout the whole process.”

According to Joe Russo, Kevin Feige played a crucial part in recent Spider-Man success, something that Sony has ‘overlooked’.

“But, I will say, stepping back and trying to be objective as possible, that I think it’s a tragic mistake on Sony’s part to think that they can replicate Kevin’s penchant for telling incredible stories and the amazing success he has had over the years. I think it’s a big mistake.”

Despite fan backlash, it seems the Disney and Sony spat is going nowhere. Sony has already announced it plans to make more films with Spider-Man (played by Tom Holland) in the future, minus Feige’s involvement.
