The stand-up comedian will star in Neflix’s first original series produced in the region

To coincide with Netflix’s second anniversary in the Middle East, it has just announced that stand-up comedian Adel Karam will star in the first-ever original Middle East coverage for the streaming site.

The show, which is set to be produced by Creative Arab Talent and is expected to be released early 2018, will be recorded in Karam’s hometown, Beirut at the Casino Du Liban. The show will consist of a humorous discussion of relationship issues, as well as day-to-day problems faced by people of the Arab world.

Karam has just starred in Ziad Doueiri’s courtroom drama The Insult, which screened at the Venice Film Festival.

“I am very happy and excited to be a part of Netflix’s first original production to be produced in the Middle East. It is a great honour and privilege and I can’t wait to embark on this new adventure,” Karam said in a statement.

Erik Barmack, the vice president of International Original Series at Netflix added, “Adel Karam is a very strong voice in comedy. We are extremely excited to collaborate with him, and can’t wait for the local audience, who have a deep appreciation of comedy, to watch the show as well as to introduce him to our global audience.”
