The real-life story of the ‘Art Terrorist’ AK47

The artist Banksy is a rather polarising man. For some, to even call him an ‘artist’ will rub them the wrong way – just ask the Andy Lee, or as he is better known as the self-proclaimed “art terrorist” AK47. 

Spurred into action when Banksy refused to sign one of his prints, AK47 would go onto write a very strange chapter in the history of art in 2004 by stealing The Drinker, a Banksy-made statue, and ransoming it back to the artist.
