Paris, London, Dubai, the trifecta of lavish luxury stretching from Europe to The Middle East. If you like walking and talking, then you might want to stick to the former two, but if you want to know how Arabic royalty spend their time, then come to the gulf because, well, you really can’t beat it.
Whatever you’re into, we’ve provided over 25 different restaurants in three of the finest cities in the world. A Zagat Guide for the modern Esquire man, if you will.
LONDON
The Wolseley – Traditional English (Mayfair)
Located on Piccadilly right next to the world famous Ritz (where Julie Roberts steals Hugh Grant’s flowers in Notting Hill), The Wolseley is perhaps the most London you are going to get simply because of its location, its history, and its inherently English cuisine. The interior architecture is fabulously art deco, and their afternoon tea is as famous as the city in which it lives, oh, and you’re but a sneeze away from Green Park and Buckingham Palace.

Claridge’s Restaurant – Traditional English (Mayfair)
Claridge’s Hotel is one of the oldest, and most luxuriously British hotels in London, boasting a 5-star rating that should realistically deserve a 6th, were those available. Their restaurant is as classically English as it gets, and with its cavernous, art-deco interior and top-hat wearing doormen, if you’ve never been to London before but want the full experience, you won’t get much better than this. And if you don’t have time for dinner, their afternoon tea is as famous as the city itself.

Thirteen – Cocktail Bar (Soho)
For any rock ‘n’ roll enthusiasts, this is for you. Located on the famous Denmark street (Hendrix, The Beatles, The Stones, they all played and recorded there), Thirteen has a red, satin interior that feels like stepping back in time to when music mattered, cocktails were made with ferocity, and people didn’t yet know if we’d ever make it to the moon. Obviously, they have sushi, and a terrific bites menu. And even today, Mick Jagger is known to make an occasional appearance.
Novikov – Japanese & Italian (Mayfair)
For those who prefer the atmosphere of your average Dubai haunt, this will be the most familiar, with incredible food of both Japanese and Italian varieties. But what makes it the most accessible to those flying in from Dubai, is its nightclub-like atmosphere, dim lighting, and prime location just a few minutes walk from Piccadilly Circus and right across the street from the Ritz Carlton and Green Park.

Corinthia Hotel – Grill, Seafood, everything (Trafalgar Square)
London is famous for its plethora of fancy hotels, so it’s really quite hard to say which one is best, but the fact that this hotel remains at the top of hotel luxury, ever since its opening in 1885, says quite a lot. They have a garden that’ll make your mom, wife or girlfriend swoon, and a champagne and cocktail bar that would satisfy everyone from Mick Jagger to Princess Diana.

Julie’s – French (Holland Park)
What was regarded as one of the coolest restaurants in all of London frequented by writers, artists and socialites alike, Julie’s closed during Covid but just recently reopened last month. Kate Moss had her birthday party there in the ’90s, and Tina Turner’s heel prints are left dug into one of the tables on which she danced back in the day. With a famously packed wine cellar, this French cuisine is the closest you’ll get to a real life Dorsia (meaning that it’s hard to get a table, but totally worth it).

NYX – Private Lounge (Mayfair)
Who doesn’t love an invite-only members club to make you feel as VIP as possible? Especially if said location counts Naomi Campbell as one of its regulars. Nestled within Gaia, NYX is an invite-only club and late-night haunt strictly reserved for the cool kids. And you, perhaps.

Brooklands at The Peninsula Hotel – Modern British (Belgravia)
The flashiest neighborhood in London also houses, inarguably, one of the most luxurious hotels in the world. And this rooftop restaurant is both a destination and a journey, paying homage to the classic eras of British aviation and motorsport, setting the scene for the modern British cuisine of Chef Director Claude Bosi. They also host the BAFTA awards. And boasts more culinary awards than we can count. Nuff said.

La Maison Ani – French (Knightsbridge)
Having only recently just opened on May 25, 2024, this recent addition to Knightsbridge’s impressive culinary geography boasts a menu by Chef Izu, whose name alone should ring an immediate bell for Dubai locals. If you ever wanted to live in the film Amelie without going to Paris, this is it.

Harry’s Victoria – Italian (Victoria)
In the original novel, Patrick Bateman and co. spend an awful lot of time at a certain Harry’s, discussing stereos, what colour socks go with the right blazer, business cards. Sure, that was the ’80s in the Manhattan, but at least you can geo-tag Harry’s on Instagram if you go here, to this recently opened Italian joint in one of the snazziest areas of the city. Yes, their truffle pasta is amazing, but if you’re an early bird, go check out the breakfast. It’s killer.

Hotel Café Royal – Mediterranean, French, Afternoon Tea, and more (Piccadilly Circus)
Hear me out, if you’re a literary nerd like me, this should be the first place you go in London. Why? Because Oscar Wilde used to eat here. That’s right, Oscar Wilde who died in the year 1900. Oh, and Winston Churchill and David Bowie and Princess Diana, all indulging in steaks, champagne, and their legendary wine list. Eclipsing a century of luxury hospitality, this place is as central as you can get, and if you’ve never been to London before, this really is a must, if only for the afternoon tea and history.

You’ve probably heard the name before, and that’s no surprise, as this is one of the most historic, celebrated, and celebrity friendly hotels in the world. If you’re a car fanatic, just hang outside the entrance to watch a slew of Bugatti’s, McLaren’s, and more, getting valeted. The best part about Paris is that everything is so effortlessly Parisian, and by that we mean: outdoor seating, wine lists, red lighting, basically everything that Midnight in Paris presents so cinematically, and why we love that movie. So, why did the snail paint an S on its car? So people would say, “look at that S car go,”…plenty of escargot at this place. Take your mom. She’ll love it. And so will you.
