The UAE is set to expand its reputation as a global cultural hub with the opening of the Infinity des Lumières on July 1, which will be the largest digital arts centre in the GCC.
Located in Dubai Mall, the centre boasts 3,000 moving HD images, 130 projectors and 58 speakers. The exhbition intends to bring visitors on a multi-sensory journey through the various exhibits which combine light, movement and sound to craft a one of a kind experience.
Visitors can immerse themselves in exhibits such as Van Gogh’s Starry Nights, Thomas Vanz’s Verse and Dreamed Japan by DannyRose Studio which is themed on 19th century Japan.
The centre was inaugurated on Tuesday by Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority.
“Infinity des Lumières will not only bring a unique art experience to the public in Dubai, but also attract digital creatives to establish their practice and thrive in the emirate,” says Sheikha Latifa.
Last month, Dubai Culture had announced that it would be partnering with Infinity des Lumières to usher in a new era of digital art by promoting the future of art and culture in the city. The art centre will also serve as a new creative platform for digital artists to display their pieces.
“Dubai is the perfect home for the art centre, with its vibrant variety of industries, cultures, arts and media that have seen incredible growth over the past few years. Along with Dubai Culture’s support, we aim to create the ultimate platform for art to merge with diverse industries through unique symposia, partnering with visionary institutions, thinkers, industry leaders, innovators, and emerging local, regional and international artists,” said Catherine Oriol, director of Infinity des Lumières.
Over the next five years, Dubai Culture aims be working to bolster the cultural and creative sectors in the emirate by supporting artists and making art and culture more accessible to everyone in the UAE.
