This year saw a strong showing from Arab photographers

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then whole tomes could be published over the entries to this year’s iPhone Photography Awards.

Now in its 13th edition, the competition continues to receive submissions from thousands of photographers from all over the globe, with several of the winning shots coming from the Arabian Gulf. 

While divided into multiple sub categories, the winner of the Grand Prize and Photographer of the Year Award went to photographer Dimpy Bhalotia from the United Kingdom, for her image entitled ‘Flying Boys’, depicting three boys jumping off a wall into the Ganges River.

There was plenty of representation from the Arab world in this year’s IPP Awards, with Iraqi photographer Saif Hussain placing third in the Photographer of the Year category with an image entitled ‘Sheikh of Youth’ (below)

In there ‘Portrait’ category, self-taught Bahraini photographer Mona Jumaan scooped the main prize with her piece ‘Beautiful Isolation’ shot in Ouarzazate in Morocco (below).

Elsewhere, French-Japanese photographer Anna Aiko’s image ‘The Empty Quarter’  (below)was awarded in the ‘Animals’ category for a shot she took of a desert dog, snapped in the UAE’s Western Region.
