Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water.
46 years almost to the day since the shark terrorized the Amity Island population in Steven Spielberg’s Jaws, an Arab paraglider in the Red Sea was attacked by a shark as he was in the midst of a relaxing parasailing session in Aqaba, Jordan.
It’s quite ironic that a shark would be seeing red while in the Red Sea.
Twitter user Beyrouth007 had shared the video of the attack on her profile which must have been filmed by one of the friends on the parasailing trip who managed to capture the terrifying scene on video.
The video shows the 37-year-old Jordanian man calmly sailing just above the water before the savage predator managed to take a huge bite out of his foot.
One user had commented saying “ Sad but it could be way worse… lucky guy at least !!”
Following the attack, the victim was quickly rushed to the Prince Hashem Military Hospital for treatment.
Approached by the local media, Mohammad Qataqneh of the Aqaba International Dive Centre had mentioned that shark attacks in the Gulf of Aqaba are rare.
“I’ve been diving for 20 years and this is the first time I’ve heard of a shark attack”.
