Hanks recovers as Idris Elba confirms he has coronavirus
Tom Hanks and his wife singer-songwriter Rita Wilson have left the hospital in Queensland Australia, after testing positive for COVID-19.
They are now safely under quarantine in a neighbouring rented home.
While Hanks is out of the worst of it, Idris Elba has confirmed that he has become the latest celebrity to contract the coronavirus.
The Thor star released a video yesterday saying that he had been forced into self-isolation because of his diagnosis.
"It sucks," he said in a Twitter video. "Listen, I'm doing okay. [My wife] Sabrina hasn't been tested, and she's doing okay."
This morning I tested positive for Covid 19. I feel ok, I have no symptoms so far but have been isolated since I found out about my possible exposure to the virus. Stay home people and be pragmatic. I will keep you updated on how I’m doing No panic. pic.twitter.com/Lg7HVMZglZ— Idris Elba (@idriselba) March 16, 2020
Elba shared an important message to his followers:
"I didn't have any symptoms. I got tested because I realised I was exposed to someone who had also tested positive. I found out last Friday that they had tested positive. I quarantined myself and got a test immediately, and got the test results back today.
"Look, this is serious. Now is the time to really think about social distancing, washing your hands. Beyond that, there are people out there who aren't showing symptoms, and that can easily spread [the virus].
"Now's the real-time to be really vigilant about washing your hands and keeping your distance."
Elba encouraged solidarity in this uncertain time and urged anyone concerned about their health to get tested.
