The No Time To Die Super Bowl trailer teases a fatal ending for James Bond
It’s been nearly five years since the release of the last James Bond film, Spectre—but it’s felt like much longer than that, considering everything we know about the troubled production of its follow-up, No Time to Die.
This includes, but is not limited to, the departure of the original director, Danny Boyle, production almost shutting down entirely, Daniel Craig busting up his ankle, and even Craig deciding whether or not he wanted to return in the first place.
Now, at long last, there’s about to be a finished product in front of us—April’s No Time to Die. And we just got a new, 30-second look of it, via an expensive Super Bowl Sunday commercial.
The teaser shows assorted Bond action shots, including 007 getting ready to fly a jet, drifting a fancy retro car, and nearly drowning. We also get another look at Rami Malek’s mysterious villain—and some fans are thinking it’s Dr. No.
Looks like there’s some trouble ahead, too. We hear Christoph Waltz’s villain, Blofeld, say in voiceover to a shot of Léa Seydoux’s Madeleine Swann that, “If her secret finds its way out, it’ll be the death of him.”
Oh, and the title cards that roll throughout the trailer read, “THE 25th FILM WILL CHANGE EVERYTHING.” Is that a small tease to the post-Daniel Craig world of Bond, possibly featuring Lashana Lynch’s 007?
We’ll see what the ultimate fate of Daniel Craig’s Bond is when No Time to Die releases on April 10, 2020.
