K-Pop superstars BTS will take a break from music for an indefinite time, starting now

The sensation that is BTS will be taking a break from music, which has big ramifications for the region’s K-Pop enthusiasts.

The popular boy band – which topped charts in the US and Britain earlier this year – will be taking a ‘long term break’ from the music scene. According to managers Big Hit Entertainment, the band will be taking their “first official long-term break since their debut to recharge and refresh as musicians and creators”.

The break will also allow them to “enjoy their daily lives as normal 20-something young men”, said the agency in a statement. “If you run into BTS at an unexpected place, we ask for the fans’ consideration to allow the members to enjoy their private time.”

Hopefully, this means the band will be taking just a few weeks off. BTS are scheduled to make their Saudi Arabian debut at the King Fahd International Stadium on October 11. And later that month, there are rumours the boy band will announce a Dubai concert, as they swing by the city to collect their Dubai Star.

It should be noted, however, that while tickets are not available for BTS’ Saudi Arabia gig, it’s still listed on the LiveNation official website.

BTS – or Bangtan Sonyeondan, which translates as Bulletproof Boy Scouts – have gained a huge following over the last few years. Hearing news of the long term break, hundreds of thousands of fans wrote to the BTS Twitter account – which has 2.1-million followers – to wish them a happy vacation from music.
