It’s Kim Jones’ first campaign as artistic director

We’re not even out of December yet, but Dior already has its sights set on the summer.

It has just released its new men’s summer 2019 advertising campaign images; making it the first campaign that new artistic director Kim Jones has overseen. The entire campaign was shot around a monumental centrepiece that was constructed for the summer 2019 show. The campaign was shot by American photographer Steven Meisel.

Speaking about the campaign, Kim Jones said, “I wanted this advertising to reflect the spirit of the summer show and the beauty of Dior“.
Indeed, the series of images feature soft and sharp shades of pink, and the wardrobe unfolds in bright tones like yellow. Clothes featured including sportswear, tailoring and haute couture, further reinforcing the dialogue between art and fashion, heritage and daring.

The same iconic motifs held dear by the brand have also been tweaked here, including the bee, toile de jouy, the Dior Oblique Cangas or the Cannage in laser-cut form, are all freely employed but reinvented and re-invited with a subtle mastery of re-appropriation.
