The debut menswear collection at Dior by Kim Jones was another milestone in this spring/summer 2019 season that had the world watching. Pressure? Yes, but as expected, Jones rose to the challenge.
Dior menswear has more recently been referred to under the sub-label Dior Homme, but Jones has decided the name Dior is strong enough to stand alone. The Dior Homme Instagram account has even been deleted, so that’s confirmed then. Dior, it’s official.
His predecessor, Kris Van Assche, gave the Dior brand a chic, suave aesthetic that embodied the modern man’s silhouette. Of course, Jones continued to pay homage to the house itself, but with more of a contemporary, streetwear feel – made famous by Jones from his time at Louis Vuitton – with looser fit garments and subtle updates to the traditional suits and tailoring items.
