New special edition timepiece celebrates the 50th anniversary of Gulf Oil

TAG Heuer has pulled the wraps of a new special edition Monaco watch. Created to mark the 50th anniversary of the Gulf Oil racing stripe edition. The Monaco has a history with Gulf – as Steve McQueen’s character wore a Gulf version while driving in the film Le Mans.

The watch has a 39mm square case, with alternating steel finishes and a blue sunray dial with light blue and orange racing stripes running down the right side. There is a second sub-dial at 3 o’clock, a chronograph counter at 9 o’clock and a date window at 6 – above which sits the Gulf logo.

The entire thing is powered by a Calibre 11 movement and finished with a blue calf skin strap with orange contrast stitching.
