Why is everyone suddenly posting about Ace Hardware? On TikTok this morning, videos have been bombarded with comments about the American-based international home improvement chain, with viral videos getting joke after joke about made up activities that happened in its aisles.
On a clip from a video interview of Anya Taylor-Joy, who stars as Princess Peach in The Super Marios Bros Movie, in theaters across the Middle East on April 20, a comment from user @madiaragonn has ignited a flurry of jokes.
“Falling to my knees in the middle of Ace Hardware,” Madi wrote.
Many immediately jumped on board.
“Just saw someone put on a stretcher in Ace Hardware, hope they’re ok,” wrote TikTok user Flyman.
“Just saw an ambulance headed to Ace Hardware?” added user Lizard Dude.
“Okay why is there a chalk outline of a body in my local Ace Hardware and should I be worried,” added Andrew Joseph.
“Just saw an employee at Ace Hardware fall to his knees,” added Oljide Olatunji.
Not everyone seems to be in on the joke.
“What’s this comment referencing? It’s like the 4th one,” asked Joseph Reiter.
This doesn’t appear to be a reference to a real-life incident, as there are no news reports around the store in particular.

Rather, this is another example of the TikTok pile-on joke, in which one very specific hyperbolic comment gets another bunch of jokes that exaggerate the hyperbole even further and pretend it’s a real life incident, with multiple people pretending to be witnesses.
So don’t be fooled, as this is just TikTok being TikTok.
In the mean time, go see The Super Mario Bros Movie, which is a lot better than critics are giving it credit for.
And Anya Taylor-Joy, as always, is a delight.
Ramadan Kareem, everyone!
