Travis Scott debuted a new grail on stage this weekend, a Nike x Cactus Jack Mac Attack, and the sneaker world immediately went into a frenzy.
Unfortunately, this doesn’t seem to be a shoe that will ever see release, and was just a custom gifted to La Flame by the Swoosh brand.
“I’m fairly confident that these were made for him and aren’t going to actually release,” said note sneaker insider Brandon @brandon1an, who has been a reliable source on unreleased and upcoming drops for years. “If that changes or we get any info to the contrary I will let you guys know.”
This would be a huge disappointment, as the sneaker is one of the best Travis Scott has ever come up with. It’s a perfect recreation of the original 1984 Mac Attack, the signature shoe of legendary tennis player John McEnroe, in its original colourway of gray and navy blue, with an aged off-white midsole and Scott’s signature reverse swoosh.
Travis Scott’s history with the Nike Mac Attack
Scott has long been a fan of the retired silhouette, wearing an original pair back in 2021.

The shoe is currently set to be retro-ed later this year, with a pack from James Whitner’s Social Status brand already leaked, as well as some samples of the OG colourway spotted online as well.
Cactus Jack himself, however, as perhaps the main catalyst for the revival, has a great case for his spin on the original to drop as well, but perhaps this was just a gift from Nike to show their appreciation for his enthusiasm, and a tip of the cap and subtle acknowledgement that he helped inspire the brand to bring back the long-lost tennis shoe.
The Astro World rapper has long been a fan of bringing back original colourways, with his Travis Scott x Fragment Air Jordan 1 from 2021 also paying a nod to not only the Fragment Air Jordan 1 from 2014, but an unreleased Air Jordan 1 sample from 1985 that as the inspiration for the High he released.
The Mac Attack is a personal favorite, and I wear a custom from Thinking Different constantly, so the writer of this article is breaking the fourth wall for a minute to let you know that I’m hoping Brandon is wrong and that this shoe sees release, because it’s so, so good. Just gorgeous.
Travis, if you’re reading this, please call Nike and ask them to reconsider!
The “Sicko Mode” musician’s impeccable taste has been on full display as of late, as his recent concert in the UAE saw him wearing the Habibi Dunks.
If any of this changes we’ll let you know!
