With a rich history on the silver screen The Macallan boasts its own extensive portfolio of film and television appearances, appearing in a remarkable number of productions over the years.

The Speyside single malt features in numerous roles as well as a background scene setter, quietly adding depth and context to the scene in which it appears. This includes its iconic and enduring relationship with one of cinemas most iconic characters, James Bond.

In order to celebrate this, The Macallan recently hosted ‘The Macallan in Cinema’ experience at the Bvlgari Resort in Dubai.

During a spectacular night of entertainment, an invite-only guestlist were treated to unique experiences dedicated to celebrating The Macallan’s rich history on film. The evening began with guests being greeted by a 17-piece orchestra, led by Andy Berryman of the National Symphony Orchestra and Halle Orchestra, followed by live performances of bond scores by International artists Andrea Florez and Clarita De Quiroz, plus the unveiling of a surprise live performance from global award-winning singer Pixie Lott.

Guests were able to explore The Macallan’s history in film with a unique exhibition. This consisted of showcasing, the influence of screenwriter Allan Scott and transporting attendees through the six decades of James Bond.

The evening continued with The Macallan Brand Education Manager, Jodie Marriott, introducing the exclusive collaboration celebrating the James Bond franchise and the launch of The Macallan’s latest global campaign, The Spirit of 1926.

The James Bond Anniversary release

In celebration of The Six Decades of James Bond films, the brand introduced and displayed The Macallan James Bond 60th Anniversary Release, a remarkable collection comprising of six single malt limited edition bottles in unique packs, each featuring an original illustrative design and colour to denote the decade it represents.

The Spirit of 1926

The Macallan released a short biopic revealing the real-life story of its former managing director, Janet ‘Nettie’ Harbinson, who in 1926 crafted the most valuable bottle of spirit ever sold at auction, The Macallan Fine & Rare 1926.

The eight-minute campaign film was screened for guests during the evening. Flexing its cinematic legacy, to create the short film (which stars British-American actress Emily Mortimer) The Macallan collaborated with an exceptional array of leading creative talent including acclaimed director Mike Newell (Four Weddings and a FuneralDonnie BrascoMona Lisa Smile, and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire). The script was written by award-winning screenwriter Allan Scott, whose Hollywood hits include Priscilla Queen of the DesertDon’t Look NowCastaway and the recent Netflix series, The Queen’s Gambit.
