After weeks of swelteringly hot weather, it appears things are on the turn in the UAE with temperatures unseasonably dropping and even the chance of an occasional summer storm in some parts of the country
According to reports from the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) residents in both Abu Dhabi’s western Al Dhafra region and Al Ain experienced showers with some thunder and lightning on Tuesday morning, with more wet weather expected in those areas throughout the week.
While the storms seem to be isolated to inland areas on the emirate, the NCM has issued a ‘yellow’ weather warning throughout the country, advising members of the public to be on the lookout should they be participating in any outdoor activities.
The unseasonal forecast for rain in the peak of summer continues to build on what has been one of the wettest years in UAE history following the unprecedented storms back on April 15 and 16, 2024. Back then the UAE authorities confirmed that the downpours were the heaviest in 75 years, with the weather bureau recording the figures of 254mm of rain in less than 24 hrs in the Khatm Al Shakla area of Al Ain – a figure which surpasses any recorded precipitation since data collection began in 1949.
