In an era of constant sound, quality is paramount—that we can all agree upon. Heck, we’ve taken that into account in so many parts of our lives already. Our cars are all equipped with brand-name speakers, we’ve upgraded to the Airpods Max, Bang & Olufsen or the Dyson Zone for our on-the-go listening. So, why exactly are we still watching television with the built-in speakers?
Here’s one rationale: While we’re happy shelling out extra for Dolby Atmos movie tickets, the idea of a similar set up at home feels cumbersome—hooking up speakers to the ceiling, finding room in our already cramped spaces—all of it can be a bit overwhelming. So we all let it slide, stick with the default, and then put on the subtitles because none of us can hear what anyone is saying.

I bring this up because Sonos has just dropped a genuine gamechanger, and I’m not the only one saying it. The Sonos Era 300, which just dropped across the Middle East, is certified Dolby Atmos no bigger than a bread box. It’s loud spatial audio that’s crystal clear and separated enough that yes, for once, dialogue is actually audible.

There’s been other compact speakers, of course, but power that this device boasts is genuinely unprecedented. The acoustic architecture cinched in an hourglass design is equipped with six powerful drivers that send sound left, right, forward and upward, making films (or television, or music, or anything you want to connect via Bluetooth—I’m just a film guy) not only easier to hear, but more immersive.
It’s also scalable, and can be used as a home theater rears and pair with the Sonos Arc or Beam to supercharge the Dolby Atmos experience.
The Sonos Era 300 is priced at AED 2099 in the UAE. Find more here.
