Saudi Arabia is taking its entertainment scene to new heights (quite literally) by transforming decommissioned Boeing planes into unique culinary and theatrical venues; called ‘Boulevard Runway’.

Turki Alalsheikh, the Head of the Saudi General Entertainment Authority (GEA), unveiled this innovative collaboration with Saudi Airlines, aimed at converting five retired aircraft into eclectic restaurants, cafes, and music theatres in Riyadh’s vibrant Boulevard Runway zone.

This groundbreaking move marks a significant stride in Saudi Arabia’s vision to diversify its economy beyond oil, placing a spotlight on its burgeoning entertainment sector. “It’ll be a unique experience,” Alalsheikh remarked, emphasizing the project’s novelty and potential to draw both locals and tourists alike.

The Riyadh Season festival, sprawling across 12 venues in the city, is set to become even more captivating thanks to this new addition. The festival already boasts huge entertainment, from fashion and video games to fine arts, handicrafts, and a plethora of cuisines.

Among the festival’s most anticipated new features is the Boulevard Hall, a state-of-the-art facility sprawling over 200,000 square meters and capable of hosting a staggering 40,000 visitors. The “Wonder Garden” is another attraction set to dazzle, featuring a colossal entertainment city with 70 diverse games and a collection of global gardens.

The Riyadh Season continues to promise high-profile concerts, theatrical extravaganzas, and a diverse selection of international culinary delights. Find out more here.
