Still blazing from his sold out show with Michael McIntyre, leading British comedian, Romesh Ranganathan, will grace the stage at the Coca-Cola Arena this October (quite a bit of time to go, but that gives more time for the excitement to build).
“I can’t wait to be performing in Dubai for the first time this October, grab your tickets NOW!”, says Romesh. Tickets start at AED 195, available here
Best known for his hit UK TV projects, The Misadventures of Romesh Ranganathan, The Ranganation, Rob & Romesh Vs & A League of Their Own, Romesh ended 2022 with a sell-out tour, and has been back in the lab concocting the next step in global comedy domination. This new tour, reaches cities throughout Europe & USA is entitled ‘Hustle’.
Here are 5 Things to Know about the ‘Straight Outta Crowley’ Comedian
His Dad Went to Prison
One can’t imagine Romesh thought it was hilarious at the time having his dad imprisoned for fraud, stating that “My mum, brother and I ended up in one room in a B&B. I didn’t have a sofa – the view of the telly was from the bed.” However, as the ancient formula goes: tragedy + time = comedy, so perhaps he laughs at it now?
He is a Vegan
Which is just another word for LOSER. Just kidding. It’s Veganuary, and we love vegans. We love vegans almost as much as plants hate vegans, so that should prove our admiration for the leaf eaters. However, a lot of his self deprecating jokes mock his own weight, which begs the question: what kind of vegan stuff is he eating? Perhaps it is due to his innate kindness. In one instance, the owner of a burrito shop, and fan, presented the comedian with a complimentary ‘dulce de lece’ dish. Despite it consisting of purely dairy products, Romesh ate it anyway, stating, “I just thought, my morals are not as important as making this guy feel good about having brought this thing over.”
He Didn’t Know His Own First Name Until He Started School
Romesh’s first name is actually Jonathan, Romesh being his middle name. But due to his parents immigrating from Sri Lanka to the UK, they purposely gave him a more Western name in hopes of it making it easier for him to apply for jobs as an adult.
His tour ‘The Cynic’s Mixtape’ sold out across the UK
Which included 14 nights at London’s iconic Eventim Apollo, concluding with a taping at his hometown venue, The Hawth, in Crawley, which was released as a Netflix special in 2022, which can be streamed here.
He is Known for his distinct Lazy Eye
And he used to be a math teacher (NERD!…kidding). After suffering an eye infection as a child, Ranganathan was left with right-side ptosis, or, as it’s commonly referred to, lazy eye. But this hasn’t derailed the comedian’s ability to look forward, as he’s gearing up for 2024 to be his biggest year yet, with two shows at London’s O2 arena, and, of course, playing here in Dubai in October.
