Remember the Big Red Boots? The MSCHF-made Astro Boy-inspired footwear that some struggled to get ahold of, others struggled to get out of? Those are a thing of the past, a relic of another era from, like, two weeks ago. Replacing them is the hot new thing, and perhaps the coolest thing you’ll see today–the Super Mario Boots, which recreate the iconic Mario footwear in the real world.
Red Wing Shoes, the makers of some of the best leather boots you’ll find, has been officially enlisted by Nintendo itself to create Mario’s big boots for Mario Day (March 10, aka MAR10), to make them.
How Red Wing made Mario’s Boots
They’re made of a natural leather upper, mushroom-based heel pads (get it?) and a slip-resistant outsole guaranteed to help you traverse many terrains, headbutt some brick squares to find if there’s any coins inside, or perhaps ride the back of a dinosaur.
And perhaps this is the perfect thing to wear to the upcoming Super Mario Bros. Movie, starring Chris Pratt, which has unfortunately been delayed in the UAE. Find out more on when you’ll be able to see it in the Middle East here.
Where to buy Mario’s boots
In the mean time, the question is, of course, how are we going to be able to buy these boots? On Red Wing’s website there is no link to buy as of yet, and it may have just been a one-of-a-kind stunt item, but we will surely keep you posted if any end up going on sale.
Because one thing’s for certain, the Big Red Boots aren’t going to the item you’ll be wearing the rest of this year. Long live the plumbing king himself!
