French actress Pom Klementieff, who became one of of the breakout stars of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy franchise as Mantis, is currently in discussions to join James Gunn over to DC for a role in one of his upcoming film or television projects, she reveals to Esquire Middle East.

“I mean, I’m having conversations already,” Klementieff responded when asked if she would be open to any roles in future Gunn-helmed DC projects.

“But you know, nothing is sure yet. But yeah, I’d love to work with him again, in any capacity, you know?”

So, will this be a role in Superman: Legacy? Something else? It’s too early to say.

Karen Gillen, her co-star in Guardians who plays Nebula, wants to join her.

“I would say yes. And I don’t even need to know what it is,” says Gillen.

Klementieff

Klementieff joined the Marvel franchise with 2017’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and then appeared as the character in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, Thor: Love and Thunder, The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special as well as the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, releasing May 4 across the Middle East.

The actress also appeared in an uncredited role in 2021’s Gunn-helmed DC film The Suicide Squad as La Gatita Amable Dancer. She will also be starring in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One this summer opposite Tom Cruise, as well as 2024’s Part Two.

Klementieff seems to feel a loyalty to Gunn, who cast her in Guardians at a time she was finding difficulty landing parts in Hollywood.

“When James Gunn cast me, I was struggling to roles as an actress in the US. Being French, I remember people telling me, if you can’t do a perfect American accent, you’re not going to be able to work in Hollywood. It used to be the case, but it’s changing. And it’s changed throughout the years, but back then it was impossible, you know? He cast me in this crazy role, and he just changed my life. It changed things and people got more interested in casting me,” the actress adds.

Gunn alluded to the possibility in December.

As far as her other goals, the actress is also hoping to will another franchise into the universe.

“I’m shooting Mission: Impossible right now, and it was one of my dreams. but if I had to add another franchise? I’d love for Tropic Thunder to become a franchise and to be a part of it. That’s one of my favourite movies,” says Klementieff.

As for Mantis, she feels ready to say goodbye after a satisfying ending in the latest film.

“I had so much fun, it’s hard to say if I’ll miss it, so we’ll have to wait a few years to know how I really feel.”

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is in cinemas May 4 across the Middle East
