Troubling news, as we must announce there is a war going on in Hollywood. A GIF war.
Yep, it turns out you’re not the only one annoying your friends with GIFs of Pedro Pascal and Ben Schwartz. They’re annoying each other with them, too.
The news came when Schwartz was talking to journalist William Mullally to promote his new film Renfield.
“Question, do you use your own GIFs?” Mullally asked.
“I do need you to say ‘question’ before all your questions, otherwise I don’t know they’re questions. So this one is a question?” responded Schwartz.
“Yes, do you use your own GIFs?”

After some initial confusion, possibly due to the fact that Schwartz wrongly thinks it’s pronounced with a soft ‘G’, the Sonic The Hedgehog star revealed that while he does not use his own, he does love to pester his friends with GIFs of them.
“What I do love to do is, if I’m talking to someone who has quite a few GIFs of them, I love taking their GIFs and putting them against them,” says Schwartz.
“Like Pedro Pascal.”
“And Amir from Jake and Amir.”
“I can’t imagine how annoying it is to receive pictures of yourself,” he adds.
Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us) and Amir Blumenfeld (A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas) are not the only ones who are experiencing the wrath of the GIF. Sam Rockwell is apparently getting the worst of it.
“Rockwell–I found some great ones of Rockwell. So when I’m chatting, i’ll put the little GIFs of him doing stuff to reply to him,” says Schwartz.
There’s a reason that Schwartz doesn’t use his own, including his iconic “The Worst” GIF from his performance as Jean Ralphio in the beloved sitcom Parks & Recreation.
“I don’t use my own ones. I feel like that’s wearing the shirt of the band to the concert, you know what I mean? Or wearing your own shirt, or something like that.”
But, of all the GIF receivers, it seems Pascal is the one fighting back.
“Does Pedro send you yours?” Mullally asks.
“He does. He actually does.” says Schwartz.
We can only imagine how brutal it can get.
But at the end of the day, at least this GIF exists that can hopefully bring them back together.
The two stars are long-time friends, who are only months separated from their FaceTime war of 2022.
